1 night in Cameron Highland

I’ve been wanting a vacation since bajillion years ago. Every time I went on emotional roller coaster during exam I will always plan a nice retreat in my head. Of course this is the time to reconnect with my family and enjoy life outside medical school. It’s now or never baby

Why Cameron highland?

  • While I was struggling for SPM my family actually went on vacation on top of Cameron Highland so this is payback time :P
  • Been dreaming about fresh strawberries ever since following Masterchef Australia season 4 (fell head over heels for Tasmania fresh produce)

Checked in 5th September 2013 and checked out 6th September 2013. We went to CH during weekdays to avoid traffic jam and for cheaper hotel rate. Due to tight budget we decided to stay at a small hotel to upscale our holiday experience.
brrrr....i love you hot shower
left a note for snooze before leaving. that pink thingy in jar is strawberry candy <3 br="">
so yum...i bet they mix some cream in the chocolate. must try in al-mashoor

next time i will find a homestay nearby the farm. want to wake up and munch on strawberries
yikes, afraid of heights
Cost only RM 145 per night for 4
The hotel was super clean due to shoes-off policy. The staff also very friendly and helpful, she help us with our umbrellas, sweet right (unfortunately we went up the highland during a heavy rain). The bed was comfortable and most importantly the interior design was so cute and homey. What u saw in photo is what u get. The hot shower works well. Our room was facing the road side. Great water dispenser so I don’t have to spend money on mineral water.
Problem: due to heavy rain the tap water turns cloudy but cleared up the next morning. Have to park a lil’ far coz the hotel was located midtown, not much parking space. Poor lighting as I personally love fluorescent lamp.

Makan- makan

Our hotel was next to KFC. Grab some snack plate for dinner. There is mamak restaurant across the street. If mamak style doesn’t suits you behind the mamak place there is food court that serves malay and thai food. The food is so-so. I don’t eat anything at Bharat coz the food is so pricy (remember this is cheapskate holiday)

What we did during the trip?

  1. Eat loads of strawberries- Kampung Taman Sedia is the place to go (at least I went there). Some farm allows you to pick strawberry. Ask YZ Agrofarm, if I’m not mistaken minimum strawberry need to be pick is half kilo and only 2 person allowed to enter the garden at a time. We didn’t pick strawberry instead we went for high end strawberry galore at Taman Agro Al- Mashoor
  2. Buy souvenirs- t- shirt, dried strawberry and strawberry jam. I’m just being real….fresh strawberry will turn soggy after long hours journey under Malaysia climate. Unless you have a cooler bag then be my guest
  3. Tea shopping- we went to bharat tea plantation. Our favorite product is loose blacktea leaves. After working in ice blended shop I realize the secret to a good cup of milk tea is mixing good quality of blacktea and fragrant tea (easily found in Malaysia groceries…tea cap masjid, tea cap paip). Don’t forget to purchase tea misai kucing with stevia. I know it sounds yucky but once I had it at our family friend’s place I went crazy for it. Let me describe the taste of ‘tea misai kucing’ it taste so light and refreshing. Not bitter and not so sweet. You wouldn’t know it’s a herbal tea. Plus misai kucing is good for health.

Alhamdulillah..registered and ready to practice

Syukur im already a doctor. Im content. For being able to share it with my parents only Allah knows how happy i am. Does that makes my parents the best parents? If you ask me i definitely say yes coz i never had any other parents :D

Here's are some tips that my parents would give to young parents:
1. Put Allah first- never encourage fancy bday party, nvr dolled up children to enter a pageant or hedonistic singing competition. I remember i wore hijab, learnt how to read quran & solat--- all from my parents. I want my future children will be able to have what i had with my parents. Love them Lillahi Ta'ala

2. Respect the child nature & nurture it- my parents know and accept every child is unique. I suxx, get ugly and got a claw sometimes but they chose to see the good side of me. In terms of career they let me choose what i want and make sure im doing it right. Ya know, i moved from veterinary school to medical school with my own will.
found this on my way to MMC office, maybe it finally found a way out from butterfly farm
As glorious as it sounds i dont think this is the end for my parents' parenting. They will keep parenting to their last breath. Now they will guide me on how to juggle between my career and responsibilities as a muslim. Self upgrading is a lifelong business.

So to all passionate dreamers out there stay PATIENT!! You can't rush success.

mackerel soup (Asian style) for pregnant mummy

I love local mackerel....it has a very nice texture. I can just eat plain fried mackerel by itself when nobody's watching. Today I have a good reason to make a mackerel soup. I'm making a soup for a friend who'd happen to love soup even more ever since she got pregnant.
sorry just ate it
there is my fav spice
isnt it a beauty. can't stop staring
yum.. smells like a fresh keropok lekor
Ingredients:
500g mackerel fillet
some salt & pepper to taste
-- made into a patty
3 pcs of firm tofu- cut into triangle
3 red chillis- gutted
spices for soup: sup tulang adabi
1 tbspn garlic- minced
1 tbspn shallots- minced
1 onion- sliced

Steps:
1. Pound/ blitz the fillet with some salt & pepper (i love to add some seasoning)-- then you get a very firm mackerel patty
2. Patty- stuff it inside the tofu, chilli or just form a ball.
3. Fried the tofu, chilli and mackerel ball for a nicer texture and fused the fish to the tofu. I prefer shallow frying. Set aside.
4. Fry garlic, shallots and onion until fragrant. Put the soup spices, add in water.
5. When the soup come into a boil, put stuffed tofu+ mackerel ball + stuffed chilli.
6. Simmer for 10 minutes and season the soup with salt, pepper & seasoning.
7. Sprinkle some chinese parsley and fried shallots before serving
ENJOY

not all politician is a statesman

I watched Killing Lincoln..another production by Tony & Ridley Scott. Aired on National Geographic channel. Became fond of President Lincoln after a scene in Richmond (that is after he abolished slavery). One thing that draws a line between politician and statesman
The production have created the assassination scene well. Full of emotion. A surgeon from the army was there and gave emergency help. I somehow have a mixed feeling about John Wilkes Booth. Love his country so much to the extend opposing abolition.
As Mr. Lincoln and his son walked the streets of Richmond, one group of newly freed slaves cried out, "Glory Hallelujah!", and fell to their knees before Mr. Lincoln.  It was here the President paused, and motioned for them to rise. "Don't kneel to me," he told them, "You must kneel only to God, and thank him for your freedom. Liberty is your birthright.  God gave it to you as he gave it to others, and it is a sin that you have been deprived of it for so many years."

when a friend seek for comfort not a tad bit of your prob worth mentioning

I am this close to exam. This is the time when I get all sappy and behave like a douche. I've made few shopping spree that are not worth buying but comforting. I've talked to my teacher and she said everyone that have been to medical school would feel the same. She even think about quitting but still manage to finish masters.
and some people have a nerve to ask you to smile
Life is full of surprises. Have problem deal with it... doesn't work talk to someone. Remember, find the right person coz if you talk to attention seeker your problem wouldn't be significant anymore and you have to hear first world problem.

when i learnt i don't have to buy collagen, it's liberating

Lately I felt so sluggish, almost like old hag. I bet grandma yetta is far more energetic than me. I can't concentrate & always went to bed early (it's not ok to go to bed when your job left unsorted). After a dentist check up (final touch before i go braces-less) i paid a visit to nearest pharmacy. I've been thinking about fish oil.

Fish oil offers lots of benefits (try google) but i'm opting for concentration and general well being. If I continue to live like this i would be academically insufficient & physically unwell. I consider today is my lucky day. The pharmacy I did a free checked up. Basically I'm all well (digestion, breathing, kidney are good) except:
1. i'm overweight- been a year since i exercise regularly, thanks to late night supper, sedentary yet stressful lifestyle, sleep deprivation
2. overweight means i have some fat in liver- this actually increase the risk of getting diabetes
3. started to loose calcium from bones but general bone density is at optimum level- what did you expect i'm reaching 30 soon so this is normal
4. My skin is started to loose collagen- that's why I have recurrent acne & it doesn't heal well
5. I don't drink enough water
i love nova product, find it affordable
I bought fish oil- basically to improve concentration. Fish oil also good for liver, heart and have some anti-inflammatory properties. Later I was advised to consume marine collagen if I want to improve my skin condition (yes i do but the collagen i so damn pricey). Today I know that I should start celebrity fitness regime from Popsugar.

Later I searched for articles about pure marine collagen. Eating natural seaweed is trending now. Maybe I should give it a try. One last check before I buy seaweed at pasar stadium tomorrow. Amazingly found this article that says there's no collagen in seaweed just carrageenan. I learnt that-- all i need is a functional skin that can utilize vitamin C to produce more collagen.

wicked pants story

Pants get ripped
This is more like DIY entry. Yeah.. my pants ripped. This kind of incidents can happen to anyone with pants. Including you spongebob. Maybe getting fat or being too comfortable in pants has taken a toll on me. The dilemma is the pants was made of super comfy fabric and the gap is not that huge. If i throw the pants away I would miss it badly but if I'm about to sew it i'm not that confident with my sewing skill *quit tailoring class half-way*
So I've met this thing from daiso & it works wonders. It's a fabric with a glue. So you just have to iron the fabric on the ripped part & you pants will return to normal. Since I'm not convince with the durability I ironed on 2 layers of fabric. One from inside (just use the color that you hate) & one ironed on the outside (use the color that are close to the pants color).
So far i'm pleased with the result. It cost me only RM5. Let see the pants after a week ;)

Save my bro from choking
This happen few weeks back when my bro ask me to go pants shopping with him. He decided to get a skinny jeans this time. With a lean body i supposed he wont have much problem finding the right pants. To my surprise he kept asking the salesgirl to get him a bigger pants. Just what i thought.... the pants is "choking nuts" The salesgirl also told me that some guys love female skinny jeans coz it has a smaller cutting. I went like....Wow!! how come choking nuts have become a mainstream?. Call me old- fashion, we might have to deal with infertility years to come. In the end my bro succumb to my advice-- he won't jeopardize fertility. So we found a comfortable pants from Dapper with the texture of a jeans + color of a slack + wearable for formal attire.
